Character's Fears: Although the war is over, she's still spooked by robots or computers in general, although that's not a big issue here. She does fear the way the world still can be, and whether it will improve by the time her child inherits it. She does fear dying a little more now as a parent. And she has some fears about how things will be when she grows old and dies, since John cannot do that.
Character's Hopes: Mostly just for a good world for her family to be in and that they'll be able to rebuild and not be under threat from the machines again.

Samples: Kate looked around at the place she and John had been brought to. She wasn’t sure yet how she felt about it. It was so different seeing an unblemished landscape with intact buildings, and not hearing the constant sights and sounds of death, violence and destruction. Not having to be on constant alert for trouble. That said, it was still hard, given what had happened to them, settling down. There was still no real way to know what to expect here.

The war was still raging back home. She was uneasy, afraid for what might be happening back there while she and John were trapped here. Were things still happening while they were gone? Would there be anything left to go back to or would Skynet finish its rampage unopposed now? It was hard to know for sure.

The thought was on her mind, though, that their lives would probably never be fully normal. Not with what John was now. She loved him regardless, though, and the important thing was that they were together. Whatever happened next, they’d face it together.
